Interview: I Prefer Mavin Record To Chocolate City – Daniel Blazer
Here is Daniel Blazer, who was born in a music loving family, just relax as you read this interesting chit-chats with Judith Hanrankis of JoyAkosaCorner.
Q: Aside from what people know about you, tell us about yourself, inside out?
I am Oladeinde Oluwatobiloba Daniel, aka Daniel Blazer a native of Ogun state. I was born and bred in Lagos state. My Daddy is a chorister, so every of his rehearsals I go with him, that was when i developed my love for music, a very big thanks to Jehovah for my music life. I love music only than life itself and I love everyone who believes in my music and life. Deep down I am sweet and always in haste, I love nature, I face my challenges squarely and i’m a man of my word.
Q: What inspires you to do music?
Like I said earlier my dad is a chorister I go to rehearsals with him from a tender age, I live in the music, I was inspired by the sounds and melodies and feeling I get anytime I jump on a beat.
Q: What genre of music do you do?
I do afro beat and hip- hop.
Q: Has been a celebrity change anything about you?
I think it has a little because I learn to how to roll with people and learn how to trust and not to trust people.
Q: Have you ever get bounced at any event or club?
Q: What will change in the music industry?
That’s an interesting question, as you can see everyone is working towards greatness, everyone is doing well on everything they do, they all kill anything “Killable” if that grammar is allowed, the real change is going to happen when everyone listens to Daniel Blazer.
Q: What has changed about you since you started singing?
Whoa, basically i grow with it so if anything is going to change it will be my voice as i’m growing and my ability to bring out the best of lyric, well as I live day by day I learn a lot about myself and what I can do with music, the change I noticed, is my hunger to reach stardom and take the music and make people listen to my music, everyday is a blessing to me.
Q: Can you marry a celebrity?
To get married is everyone’s dream, to maintain the public and the fans is a great responsibility, any woman who can do that should be able to take care of the home, I mean matrimonial home and it’s a great plus to marry a celebrity, I don’t mind, if she is good then am okay with her.
Q: Aside from financial challenges, what other challenges do upcoming artists face?
(Sigh) Being an upcoming artist is a block of challenges itself, like they say no pain no gain, upcoming artists face a lot, the list is long but I will touch a few, striving is what upcoming do, it’s had to find people who believes in you, every show you go to feels like war even if you love what you are doing, sometimes you feel down when people don’t respond to your song, you feel intimidated, you start getting emotional, getting hard on yourself but still keep yourself on track by believing in yourself, it’s a lot but I feel that’s the most terrible thing I always feel.
Q: If not music what would you be?
Probably, I will be a Dj, still in the music.
Q: Who do you plan to work with this 2017?
Oh, every artist is giving their best, but I would love to work with R2bees, wizkid, Davido and if God permits Usher or R-kelly.
Q: If you were to choose between Mavin and Chocolate City which one will you go for?
That’s a tough decision but sincerely but record labels are so dope I wish I could merge them but the exceptional producer would make me choose Mavin, My God he is so creative and I think he can handle me.
Q: How do you see music industry doing?
I see it has a school of thought, you have to stay on top to survive, you have to be a thoughtful, it’s actually a battle field for some and a place of enjoyment for others too.
Q: What advice do you have for other upcoming Artistes?
Strive don’t let anyone discourage you, there will always be light at the end of the tunnel.
