Court remand husband and wife with two others ontop N55m fraud

One Benin High Court don order say make dem remand one former bank manager, Mrs. Florence Odior; her husband, Sunday Odior, and two other people for prison custody ontop sey dem defraud one customer of N55,840,000.

On June 8, 2017 Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraign dem before one High Court for Benin, Edo State,  ontop 19 counts on fraud, stealing, conspiracy and sey dem convert the money to personal use.

Florence, wey be the principal suspect, forge one document wey dem mark “TD 0990001445” kon put August 2, 2012 as the date for the customer,wey em name na Moses Obozokhae, kon give am say na genuine.

The four suspects wey EFCC don give them administrative bail since dem arrest them, stil go meet court to take extend their bail.

Counsel for the first and second suspects, Mrs. E. Ekejiube, talk say the suspect dey always report to EFCC office as dem request and Florence dey hospital dey collect medical treatment.

Ekejiube talk say the receipt wey dey the affidavit with the medical certificates show say Florence no dey medically fit.

She tell court say dem get children and their parent don old and na under their care dem dey, sey if dem remand dem for prison custody he go affect their care.

so, Ekejiube, kon beg court make dem give them bail.

Counsel for the fourth accused person, Mr. Chukwuka Enegide, also beg court make dem grant em client bail ontop health matter, as the suspect no get reason to jump the bail.

But EFCC oppose the bail application for inside sworn affidavit by one officer wey dem attach to the agency, Mr. Ganiyu Ajisafe.

But the counsel for EFCC, Mr. Mustapha Aliu, tell court make dem refuse the bail application, ontop sey the suspects no gree report to EFCC office after dem grant dem administrative bail.

Aliu tell the court make dem dismiss the applications since dem no gree send any correspondence wey show medical problems.

The presiding judge, Justice Ohimai Ovbiagele, order say make dem remand the four of them for prison custody.

He kon adjourn the case to June 21 for ruling ontop the bail application.
